Methods We examined 78 patients with chronic ITP, 32 patients with thrombocytopenia due
to nonautoimmune thrombocytopenia (18 with myelodysplastic syndrome, 6 with aplastic
anemia, 5 with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, and 3 with disseminated intravascular
